The book of Job ends on a note of contentment and peace. Job was probably about seventy when the book opened, so he is an old man. What a picture of peace, a contented man. God had greatly blessed him.

 

Before us stretches a new year, a new beginning. The old is past, put away forever. God invites us always to forget about all the distrust and fears, all the anxieties of the past, all the resentments we have been holding against others, all the grudges, all the criticisms — to put them away and begin again.

And after this Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, four generations. And Job died, an old man, and full of days. - Job 42:16-17.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he has informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his presidential ambition.

Tinubu said this in an interactive session with State House Correspondents after meeting the president at Aso Rock on Monday.

“I’ve informed the president of my intention but I have not informed Nigerians yet. I’m still consulting,” he said.

Although there have been clear indications that he is interested in the highest office in the land, Tinubu has been avoiding direct comments on it.

While his support groups have been springing up across the country and many publicity materials have been in circulation, the APC National Leader refrained from direct comments.

In October, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos joined other Lagos APC members to launch the South-west Agenda 2023 (SWAGA ‘23), a campaign group championing the candidature of Tinubu for the 2023 presidency.

One month after, elder Statesman, Tanko Yakasai, said Tinubu sought his support for the nation’s number one job.

“I don’t want to join any (political) party but I can support a candidate of my choice. I have said it way back in 1951 that I will not be a party member but I will support a candidate of my choice,” Yakasai had said.

“He (Tinubu) just came to visit me but actually I have two of them (presidential aspirants) that I have earmarked right from the beginning and I made a vow that any one of them who came to ask for my support first is the person I would support. Tinubu is the first person He (Tinubu) did and he asked for my support.”

After a closed-door meeting with members of the Northern Alliance Committee (NAC) in December, Tinubu had said although he was still consulting, he would not turn down individuals and groups who urge him to contest for president.

“I’m not going to turn them down. But, I will still effectively and widely consult, particularly brainstorm with my friends and find a date to come out openly and tell Nigerians.”

With his comments at Aso Rock, the race for 2023 presidency has no doubt taken a new dimension.

2023 Presidency: Over 300 Clerics Hold Prayers For Yahaya Bello

 

Over 300 clerics have held a special prayer session for Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to achieve his ambition to become the president of Nigeria in 2023.

The prayer session was held in Kano on Sunday.

Top clerics from within and outside Kano recited the complete Qur’an during the prayer session.

Gwani Sheikh Nasiru Kura, who led the session, said one of the greatest prayers practise is the recitation of the complete Qur’an and doing that for Yahaya Bello is pertinent if truly, the hope to transform and rescue Nigeria from its shackles was the priority of any concerned citizen.

He added that they organised the prayer session for the governor because of his integrity, good works and exemplary style of leadership which will likely take Nigeria to greater heights.

Also speaking, Gwani Ismail Zakariyya Al-Kinshawi said whoever is conversant with the news media knows how Bello had been handling the affairs of government, meeting the expectations of electorates.

Yahaya Bello is the incumbent governor of Kogi State who is on his second term.

He has since declared his intention to become the president of the country come 2023.

The Simple Solution

What does the Garden of Eden tell us about God’s plan? God provided Adam and Eve with everything they needed and every possible pleasure. They just needed to obey God. But what happened?

They were tempted to reject His instructions. Instead of believing Him, they were tricked by the serpent into doubting Him and following their own devices. In the process, they complicated their lives and abandoned God’s path.

The Bible tells us that God created us to be “upright.” The Hebrew word here actually means straight. He designed us to obey and trust Him, to keep life simple.

All of us face choices about what to believe. People all around may suggest that simple faith is unrealistic and that it is foolish to trust God. We are encouraged to chart our own course. It can seem impossible that God really loves us and has a plan for our lives.

This rejection leads to a “downward path,” as we move away from God’s plan. We no longer simply believe, obey, and trust. We fail to remember that “God made man simple; man’s complex problems are of his own devising” (Ecclesiastes 7:29 Jerusalem Bible). Like Adam and Eve, we find problems multiplying when we reject His Word.

Today, seek to live with simple faith. Submit to the Lordship of Jesus. Read His Word. Surrender your life to Him. Believe Him. It really is that simple.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your promises are true for me. I trust You and submit my life to You. I seek Your plan for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

One of the most wondrous aspects of Christmas is witnessing the birth of Christ being celebrated all over the world. “Joy to the world; the Lord is come. Let earth receive her King.”

The words of the beloved hymn “Joy to the World,” written by Isaac Watts, lift triumphant voices to the Heavens every Christmas. And yet they were originally written glorifying the return of Jesus. Still, one can imagine a heavenly chorus proclaiming their joy with those very words the night of His birth.
