TOPIC: DESTROYING EVIL ALTARS. BY PASTOR VICTOR KING

SCRIPTURE READINGS: Judges 6:25, Num 23:1-2, 2 Kings 23:12, Deuteronomy 7:5, Exodus 23:24, Exodus 23:24, Deuteronomy 12:3."That same night the Lord said to him, ‘Take the second bull from your father’s herd, the one seven years old. Tear down your father’s altar of Baal and cut down the Asherah pole beside it’.” Judges 6:25

Dear friends, part of the spiritual sanitization of our family is the destruction of evil altars, Evil altars are the stronghold of demons. Those who are in communion with God must have no communication with the unfruitful works of darkness.” Gideon must not think it enough not to worship at that altar; he must throw it down, and raise a new altar for the Living God. It was needful to destroy the demonic stronghold within his family before he made war on Midian, the enemies outside.

There is a compulsory war that each child of God must fight; it is the war against evil altars of every type, within the family and outside the family. Evil and wicked forces are setting up evil altars in families, villages, towns, cities, nations and even internationally, against the progress of God’s people and God’s work.

Balaam told Balak to build seven evil altars to enable him to carry out his evil plot against Israel. (Num 23:1-2, 13-14, 27-30.) These evil altars must be destroyed. In Jeremiah 1:10, God instructed Jeremiah to destroy all evil things. Uproot, overthrow and tear down. He asked him to build and plant good things in his life and in Israel.

Matthew 15:13 He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up.

Judges 6:25-28 That night the Lord said to him, “Take your father's bull, and the second bull seven years old, and pull down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the Asherah that is beside it and build an altar to the Lord your God on the top of the stronghold here, with stones laid in due order. Then take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering with the wood of the Asherah that you shall cut down.” So Gideon took ten men of his servants and did as the Lord had told him. But because he was too afraid of his family and the men of the town to do it by day, he did it by night. When the men of the town rose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was broken down, and the Asherah beside it was cut down, and the second bull was offered on the altar that had been built.

Jeremiah 1:10 See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Exodus 20:24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.

PRAYERS TO DESTORY EVIL ALTARS

Blood of Jesus save me from sins of my forefathers, in the name of Jesus. 

Every evil altar formed to scatter the works of my hands, you are a liar, catch fire, in Jesus name.

 I repent, from all ancestral idol worship, in the name of Jesus. O Lord, barricade me from the wicked that oppress me and from my deadly enemies who compass me about, in the name of Jesus. 

O God, thunder from heaven against all my oppressors, in the name of Jesus.

 Every evil hands protecting the family altar from damage, scatter unto irreparable damages, in Jesus name 

O God, I pull down the structure of evil altars of my father’s house and mother’s house, in the name of Jesus. 

Every evil priest that wants to terminate my glory, let the thunder of God strike you down in the name of Jesus. 

You stubborn powers that has exchanged my reproductive organs with the goats, you are a dead person today, return it back to me and die, in Jesus name

 Every voice of affliction manipulating my day and night, be silenced forever, in Jesus name 

You wicked strange altar fighting against me and my family, hear the word of the Lord, loose your battle and die, in Jesus name

 Holy Ghost arise and fight my battles from the evil altars, in Jesus name

 Holy ghost arise and break the covenant of the wicked strengthening the operation of the enemies against me, in Jesus name

 Every witchcraft material used to monitor my life or any member of my family, catch fire, in Jesus name

Evil dedication on any shrines against my finances, be destroyed in Jesus name 

O altar of false prophets, releasing adulterated blessings on me, backfire, in Jesus name

NIGERIA NEWS2023 Elections: ICPC Sends Strong Message To Politicians

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has sent a strong message to Nigerian politicians ahead of the 2023 general elections.

In a statement on Friday released by its spokesman, Azuka Ogugua, the commission Chairman, Bolaji Owasanoye, warned politicians to desist from sending frivolous petitions against political opponents.

The commission boss also accused some politicians of using anti-corruption and security agencies in order to outdo their rivals and opponents.

Owasanoye stated this on Friday while hosting the leadership of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) at the commission’s headquarters.

He, however, said ICPC has an existing understanding with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on how to address genuine electoral petitions when the need arises.

He said: “Usually when the season for competition comes, there is a spike in politically-motivated petitions for wild-goose chases. Some are bold enough to tell you that we should make sure to stop Mr A from contesting and they will bring a petition forward. That is not our job, and we will not get involved. We pack those types of petitions aside basically.

“Even if there is the implication of merit within the complaint, we will say ‘go and compete first’.

“We will not be the one to be used to give you the fair or unfair advantage. When the competition is over, we will decide on the merit or otherwise of what you have brought forward

“We do have an understanding with INEC that in cases where contestants challenge each other in court and the decision says somebody forged a certificate, for example, INEC will send those things to us, and we are prosecuting a few of them at the moment.

“Those are ways we will add value without compromising ourselves or exposing our officers to the compromise and desperation of politicians during the contest.”

Why Peter Obi Is Meeting With Nigerians Abroad – Labour Party

The Labour Party (LP) has debunked reports making the rounds that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was seeking foreign funding for his campaigns.

Naija News reports that some Nigerians have slammed Peter Obi for touring foreign countries to meet Nigerians in the diaspora and the setting up of a controversial committee by the LP.

Clarifying the issues in a telephone interview with Vanguard on Saturday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Abayomi Oluwafemi, described the speculations that the party was equally seeking foreign funding for its activities as part of the antics of political opponents, who were intimidated by the rising profile of the Labour Party and its presidential candidate.

Oluwafemi said: “It is ridiculous that our political opponents have descended to a new low to insinuate that our party is oblivious of electoral laws.

“For the avoidance of doubt, neither our party nor our candidate is seeking for foreign funding for any of our activities.

“Our candidate, Peter Obi, is hitting the ground running.

“He is reaching out to Nigerians in the diaspora most of whom have lost confidence in the current administration and see no reason to come home to invest.

“He is getting them ready to have a rethink because the incoming Labour Party-led administration which by the grace of God, he and Datti will be leading, will provide an enabling environment for direct foreign investment required to revive our ailing economy which the APC has unfortunately destroyed.”

He also dismissed reports of a conflict between the party leadership and the presidential candidate over campaign funding.

According to him, the party had since debunked the speculations that it said were part of an orchestrated plot by political opponents to whittle down the growing influence of the party.

Nigerians have taken to social media to express concern, frustration and anger over fuel scarcity, which is biting harder in some parts of the country.

Long queues were spotted earlier today in parts of Lagos and Abuja, causing motorists to hike fare amidst gridlock occasioned by the scarcity.

A popular Social Media pastor, tweeted via @Olubankoleidowu “We are finished! This fresh fuel scarcity is reminding us of what decision we should make come 2023. Nigerians be wise. God will not come down from heaven to fight your battles that was why he gave you brain”

A Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, is one among many Nigerians who have expressed sadness over the fuel scarcity in the country.

“You just go out and on your way back, boom! Fuel scarcity.”

Aligning with Ekubo’s thoughts

Salihu tweeted via @salihusakpe “This is Nigeria where it’ll be white and the next minute it’ll turn to black”

Another Nigerian wondered why there should ever be petro scarcity.

He tweeted via @iamangelraf: “You will hate Lagos more anytime there’s fuel scarcity.

“After data na fuel. Nigerians can hardly do without these products.”

Apparently feeling the harsh effect, A Nigerian tweeted via @tesla_tunes “They should not play rough play which one is fuel scarcity again at this time. Not this time pls”

@solaceomolaiye reacted by tweeting, “The rate of hold-ups in Abuja is becoming alarming amidst PMS Scarcity, is like we are having illegal migrants from Lagos into Abuja”

A source, who prefers anonymity, claims that the hardship Nigerians are suffering over fuel scarcity is a result of lack of petroleum product at the depots, but refused to dismiss speculations that fuel subsidy removal was connected with the current scarcity.

Frustrated, @abrahamgreat tweeted, “To be experiencing Motor spirit scarcity in one of the largest OPEC countries is one more proof that Nigeria is not designed for the citizens but for a sect of men who lack empathy, vision and strategy to transform anything.

“There is HOPE. This country shall be BUILT.”

Recall that the IMF, on Monday, insisted on fuel subsidy removal by the Nigerian authorities, saying there should be compensation for the poor and transparent use of resources.

2023 PRESIDENCY: How far can Amaechi go?

 

THE weekend turbaning of Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi as the Dan Amanar Daura, by the 60th Emir of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, is raising dust in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, regarding permutations on who would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The turbaning was witnessed by governors, former governors, traditional rulers and top politicians among others.

Host of groups thronged the venue to mobilise support for Amaechi for President in 2023.

The groups are Frontier for Peace and Unity, FPU, Amaechi Vanguard, Amaechi 2023 Agenda and Northern Grassroots Mobilization.

The ceremony also attracted Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Ogunwusi; Alhaji Muhammadu Nuhu Sanusi (Emir of Dutse); Erin Edet Ekong (Chairman of Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council); Abdullahi Lamido Sunusi (Magajin Garin Kano); Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba (Minister of State for Education); Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, minister of State for Health; Okechukwu Enelamah (Minister of State for Trade and Investment); Alhaji Yusuf Tukur Buratai, Mallam Isa Yuguda (former Bauchi Governor); Alhaji Musa Haro (District Head Dumurkol); Alhaji Yusuf Buhari (District Head of Kwasarawa); Alhaji Bashir Jamo (DG NIMASA); and Alhaji Muhammadu Koko among others.

The turbaning, according to observers of political events, remains significant in many respects especially for Amaechi’s contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and, in particular, the emirate of Daura in his capacity as Minister of Transport.

The pundits hold the view that the conferment of the title on Amaechi, a Nigerian of South-South origin, at a time like this, goes beyond a mere gesture of a returned gratitude.

They opine that the conferment borders on the knotty issue of President Buhari’s successor in 2023.

Besides, they insist that the Dan Amanar Daura title remains an Emirate’s audacious political statement as it has raised a critical issue of trust in leadership.

Buhari’s delegation to Amaechi’s turbaning

Earlier, President Buhari had sent congratulatory messages to Amaechi, who was the Director-General of his election campaigns, on the conferment of chieftaincy titles on him by the Daura Emirate Council.

It was gathered that the President, who ought to be at the event, had designated a delegation of three, made up of the ministers of Water Resources, Sulaiman Adamu; Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika and Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) Garba Shehu, to represent him.

Buhari described the conferment of the title of Dan Amanar Daura on Amaechi as a clear commitment to the harmonious relationship among the nation’s diverse cultures.

Amaechi a goal getter— Emir of Daura

Describing Amaechi as a goal-getter, the Emir of Daura prayed for the Minister to attain a higher office.

The Emir’s prayer has sent a strong signal that Amaechi is a trusted son of Buhari, who can take over the reins of power after the president.

The Emir said: “We are gathered here to reciprocate the kind gesture done to us by the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, for his wholehearted love and support for us. Therefore, it is binding on the Daura traditional emirate to acknowledge the kind gesture. My prayer is for God to give you a higher office.”

Faruk also commended Amaechi for ensuring that the Kano-Maradi Standard Gauge Railway line passes through Daura.

The traditional ruler said: “We don’t give title because you have money. We give you considering your sacrifices and impact on people’s lives, and impact on the community and the nation at large.”

An audacious statement

Indeed, many hold the view that Amaechi’s turbaning remains an audacious statement on where the sons and daughters of Daura, including President Buhari, stand in the 2023 presidential election.

Last weekend’s event in Daura may have inadvertently revealed what Buhari was trying to conceal when he said: “I don’t have any favourite for 2023 and if I do, I won’t reveal his identity because if I do, he may be eliminated before the election. I better keep it secret”.

The title Dan Amanan Daura, perhaps, gives a clue.

With the coronation of Amaechi, only a few would now be left in doubt as to where the President stands on the matter of his successor.

Tongues are, however, wagging as the APC and Nigerians wait to see where the pendulum swings to.

A social commentator, Chijioke Nwachukwu, who described the event as an audacious statement, said: “The turbaning is an endorsement – a loud and eloquent statement on where the current ruling northern establishment stands as far as the 2023 presidential election is concerned. Like in all democracies, it is logical to assume that there are dissenting voices based on individual, group or class interests. The North, with its huge and diverse population, has divergent positions which are expected in a multi-party democracy, but, as often demonstrated, the interest of the ruling northern elites always finds convergence on how and who could protect the interest of the North based on trust.”

Nwachukwu also noted that “Recent developments in the APC vis-a-vis the revised amendment on the Electoral Act, among other political moves, suggest that Buhari holds the yam and the knife on matters relating to the party’s presidential candidate for 2023. His choice is likely to weigh heavily on the side of trust.”

During World War II, American air units based in Australia experienced problems with aircraft maintenance…until General George Kenney became involved.

He made inspecting each plane a priority. General Douglas MacArthur observed that Kenney’s attention to detail and preparation was crucial to “keep his planes flying.”

An end-of-war, inspection of 8,000 planes of the adversary revealed how much his attention to detail affected the outcome. Although 95% of the enemy planes were intact, most were “not operational because some small part was unavailable.” The conclusion? The “attention to detail and extra effort” Kenney provided was a key difference between defeat and victory.

Preparation and details also were important for Solomon’s reign. David had done much to prepare the way, so Solomon could complete his assignment and receive God’s blessing.

The Bible reminds us that God wants to bless us abundantly. But, to receive these blessings, we must be prepared and put His principles into practice. We must know His promises and obey them. We must spend quality time with Him in prayer and commit our time, talents, and treasures to His Kingdom.

Think about the gifts and talents God has given you. Seek to be a good steward, investing these resources. Sow your seeds. As you are faithful, you can expect His blessings.

Father, I seek Your abundance and blessings. Help me be a good steward. Speak to me through your Word. Give me Your wisdom and favor. In Jesus’ name, amen.
