HOW TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO HURT YOU

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32
Is this true for you? – someone at the church you attend bothers you so much that sometimes you would just rather stay home from church!

Does an “enemy” keep you away from church?
The day before He died, Jesus told His disciples that the most important command He was giving them was to love each other (John 15:12-17). During the whole final evening with them, He was preparing them for life after His death, resurrection, and ascension to Heaven (John 13-17). He had kept them together as His disciples for the past three years, and now they needed to know how they could remain together even though they would be spread to different parts of the world. Jesus’ answer was love for one another, which would unite them.

We also need help in loving each other, even when there are disagreements among us in the church. The disciples had missed Jesus’ point so often, argued with one another and hoped to gain advantage over one another. (Luke 22:24-30). Without Him walking with them, would selfishness and bitterness divide them? Not if they listened to what He said. He told His disciples they must always forgive each other, and this is what we, too, must do. We must not allow anger and bitterness to grow. When that happens, we become ineffective witnesses for Him.

How am I to forgive another Christian who hurts me?
Jesus was committing His disciples to one another as an eternal family. This means a few things:

First, it's pretty much impossible to avoid offending others in this life, so we should not pretend we're never offensive. Siblings don't always get along. But they never stop being family. What does it take to maintain peace? You have to go to someone who feels wronged—even if you don't know what you did wrong. Jesus even gave this priority over our worship in Matthew 5:23-24.

Second, because we know we've done things that give others reason to be offended, forgive others. They may not even know what they did wrong. Go to them. Be persistent and patient. (Matthew 18:15-22) Jesus never runs out of forgiveness for us; we have to be the same way.

Why should I forgive, even when they are not sorry?
One of my dear friends was the victim of a conspiracy in her family. Divorced and raising two children on her own had made life a struggle, but then her father and younger sister agreed to bypass her in the inheritance of some family property. It caused her to curse and forsake her family for years. She even emigrated to another country in order to make an irreversible break in her family relationships.

But then, something happened to change her mind. She found Jesus. It was a few years before she reconciled with her family. They didn't recompense her for the lost property or years of hard work. But when God changed her life, He gave her first the desire, then later, the actual power, to forgive. Looking back, she now sees clearly how unforgiveness is really what hurt her and cost her the most. It really wasn't until she released her hold on it that she herself was free.

When Jesus said in Matthew 6:14-15 that we cannot be forgiven if we do not forgive others, He was telling us two things: 1) not forgiving someone is disobedience to Him, and 2) we cannot see our own need for forgiveness if we keep anger and bitterness in our hearts. In essence, forgiving someone is more about our relationship with Jesus than with that person.

How do we forgive when we do not feel like doing so? Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling. We must choose to obey. It may be that we must say to Jesus, “I do not want to forgive because that makes what they did right, and it was not right! But I want to be near You more than I want to keep this anger, so I choose to forgive. Help me, Lord Jesus!” Then, the next time you remember what they did or you see them at church or anywhere else, you can simply say to Jesus, “I have given this to You, I will not take it back.” It will not be long before you realize you are free from the slavery of what this person did. You are free from anger and bitterness. You are free to do or say whatever Jesus asks you to say to them with peace in your heart (Philippians 4:7, and Luke 12:11-12).

Pray this week:
Lord Jesus, I have trouble forgiving ___ in my church. I choose to obey You because I need Your peace more than I need proof of being right or even worldly justice. I give this situation into Your hands; help me to leave it with You. Help me also to speak Your words to them so we may be reconciled to each other for the work of Your kingdom.

One Game Cut Your Ticket?
One Game Cut Your Ticket?
NairaBET rewards punters who were unlucky because one game spoilt their ticket. Imagine playing a bet of 15 games with N100 and you wanted to win N200,000 and one game spoils that ticket. It is usually very painful. Other bookies will just keep your money.

At NairaBET, we will pay you a part of that N200,000.00 winning. Some other bookies will return the amount you used to stake which is just a hundred Naira (N100).

HOW IT WORKS

Only accumulators of 10 games and above qualify for this reward
Each bet on the ticket must have a minimum odds of 1.2. If there is any game less than odds of 1.2 on the ticket, the ticket will not be eligible for reward.
Adding any game of less than 1.2 on the ticket disqualifies it even if there are other 10 games with minimum of 1.2.
Imagine you placed a 10 game accumulator with N100 and your expected returns was N250,000 and your accumulator bonus was N50,000 making N300,000. If a game of 1.5 odd spoils your bet, this is how we will calculate it.
You were expecting N300,000 in total. We will take out the bonus of N50,000 which gives us N250,000.
We will take out the 1.5 game that spoilt the ticket. N250,000 divided by 1.5 is N166,666, We will divide the result (166,666.66) by 10 and subtract the unit stake (Unit stake is the amount placed on a bet slip divided by the number of games selected on that bet slip) from the result (16,666.66 – 10). The result (16,656.66) is the compensation we will credit into your account.
You placed an accumulator with N100 but lost it because a game spoilt it but we pay you N16,565.66 for a bet you lost.

6 Reasons Nigerians should visit Ghana

The West African countries of Ghana and Nigeria have an ongoing rivalry between them akin to that of siblings. From football, to politics, to entertainment, citizens of each country always want to demonstrate their superiority over the other, howbeit not in a hateful or biased manner. It is always more bants than facts. There have been several episodes, of ‘social media wars’ or ‘Twitter Fights’ between citizens of both countries that leaves us all clutching our stomach with laughter. Through it all though, it is obvious that it is all love and sport.

In this post, we attempt to give reasons why Nigerians, despite the rivalry with their Ghanian counterparts, should visit the Gold Coast. Just like Nigeria, Ghana is rich in history, mineral resources, culture, tradition and places of interest to see and visit.

Many Nigerians do not even know that in Ghana you have Hausa and Fulani speaking people like there are in Nigeria.

Cousins
Ghanians are like cousins to Nigerians. Visiting Ghana for a Nigerian is like visiting your cousins for holiday. There are lots you share in common, but somehow you all still do things differently. Case in point, the jollof. When Nigerians visit Ghana there is an air of familiarity about the place, some lingo and slangs are commonly used, but their pidgin is still very confusing.

Food
Shitor. Banku. Waakye. Jollof. The list is endless really. Ghanian cuisine can be a joy to experience and even though the eternal battle over whose jollof is better still rages on, no Nigerian should visit Ghana without tasting the jollof. Ghanaian food is actually so popular in Nigeria that there are bukas and restaurants in Lagos dedicated to selling just Ghanaian meals. The most popular among them is Ghana High.

Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale is Ghana’s biggest music sensation at the moment. And only recently he has had a war of words with Nigerian pop artistes on social media. As long as you are not one to take these things too seriously, visiting Ghana to see a Shatta Wale show should be on your list of things to do, at least that way you can see what the hype is about yourself and tell if he is as great as he says he really is.

Beaches
Ghana is blessed with such an impressive stretch of beach line. If you are tired of the Elegushi and Oniru beaches of Lagos, switch it up by exploring the coastline of Labadi and Kobrobite. If you are enthusiastic about wildlife, visit the Cocoloco beach where you would find turtles and a large number of river birds. Beach Resorts in Ghana are beautiful and spending a night or more in one of them would greatly enrich your Ghana experience. Hospitality in Ghana is amazing with big establishments and accra hotels offering top notch service to travelers.

Charle Wote
We have Calabar Carnival. They have Charle Wote. This annual street cum art festival does get bigger and better every year with amazing exhibitions, musical performances, art installations, food, merchandise vendors as well as live music and dance that goes on well into the night. For anyone who enjoys having a good time, when in Ghana, Charle Wote is a must attend.

Nigerian Community
There is a perpetually growing Nigerian community in Ghana and visiting Ghana would definitely feel like home. It wont be long before you notice the familiar accent of a Nigerian, no matter where he is from back home and quickly tag them as your brother or your sister. Especially in Ghanian Universities where many Nigerians turn to as an alternative to schooling in Europe or right here at home.

Breaking: EFCC confirms arrests of ex-DSS boss, Ekpenyong

Abuja – The former Director General of the Department of State Security, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong, has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes in Abuja.

Mr. Ekpenyong was taken away by the operatives at 3:20 pm on Thursday from his abode at Number 46, Mamman Nasir Street, in upscale Asokoro District of Abuja.

The arrest, according to EFCC source, is in connection with funds said to have been released to the DSS and NIA last year under the previous administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the conduct of the 2015 election.

The money, the source said, was not fully utilised and it is being suspected that Ekpenyong left behind a huge amount of cash that cannot be accounted for. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the search of Ekpenyong’s home.

Uwujaren said, “Our men went there to do the work that they were prevented from doing about ten months ago,” but did not give further details.

West Ham sign striker Perez from Arsenal

London – West Ham United has signed striker Lucas Perez from Arsenal on a three-year contract, both English Premier League clubs confirmed on Thursday.

The 29-year-old is West Ham’s seventh signing of the close season.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but local media said West Ham had paid about 4 million pounds for the Spaniard.

Perez joined Arsenal in August 2016 from Deportivo la Coruna but started just two Premier League games for the London club, making another nine appearances off the bench. He was later loaned back to the Spanish side the following season.
“I’m very happy to be here at such an historic club,”
he said in a statement on West Ham’s website.

“I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.”

West Ham director of football Mario Husillos said Perez’s arrival would increase new manager Manuel Pellegrini’s options upfront. This is in view of the fact that Andy Carroll is set to miss West Ham’s season opener at Liverpool on Sunday due to injury.

“His style is different from the other strikers we have available to us, and that gives the manager more options for our attacking play,” Husillos said. “Lucas also has experience of the Premier League with Arsenal, and is familiar with life here in London, which of course means that he will take less time to adapt and be ready.”

The English transfer window closes at 1600 GMT (05:00 p.m. BST) on Thursday.(Reuters/NAN)

2019: Lawmaker, others pass vote of confidence on Ambode

Lagos – A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Rasheed Makinde on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state for outstanding performance.

Akinwunmi Ambode

Makinde, member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly gave the commendation at the Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting in Lagos. He singled out Ambode for his administration intervention on inner roads of Ojokoro.

The lawmaker, who described Ambode as a responsive governor and passionate about involving people in policy making, however, called on him to do more on school, hospital and inner road constructions. According to him, Ambode has constructed no fewer than 35 roads in the constituency among many other projects. “Gov. Ambode has affirmed his pro-activeness by doing very well and we pass a vote of confidence on him, come 2019 elections.

The same can be said of the Lagos Assembly. “When he got wind of complaints from my constituency; on the poor state of inner roads after the completion of the jubilee bridge in Abule Egba, he immediately called the contractors to site, to right the wrongs. “We appreciate this prompt remedial and noble action of our governor, the people of Ojokoro never had it this good prior this moment, we will mobilise more votes for him in 2019.

“In my constituency, we need more schools, general hospital, stadium and many more,’’ he said. According to him, the space of work may slow down because of the electioneering campaigns, but the governor has affected many lives and communities. Also speaking, a traditional ruler, Chief Bolarinwa Adebayo from Ajegunle in the council said: “Ambode has transformed Lagos to a state of my dream.“ “His ideology is priceless. “I want him to come to Gbeleyi community. The street where my palace is situated is an eye sore.“ Alhaji Azeez Hamzat, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Ojokoro also commended Ambode for allowing community participation in his governance.

“The governor has been performing creditably well. He has been doing things that former administrations find difficult to do, that is, getting grassroots involved in the government decisions. “The idea of making people select what they want has made him achieve a lot. In the last few years, construction of roads has been massive in almost all the Community Development Areas (CDAs) and councils.

“His impacts are felt in all sectors,’’ he said. The community leader, who commended Ambode’s feats in education, transport, road construction and security, however, urged him to intensify efforts on more road constructions. Chief Oladejo Akinloye, the Babaloja-General of Ojokoro, who also commended Ambode and promised massive votes for him in 2019 general elections, called for more transformation of markets in the state.

Another resident of the area, Mr Tunde El-Rufia, told NAN that the governor had done a lot in developing the community but that more still beckoned for his attention. The meeting, organised by the Lagos Assembly held simultaneously across the 40 state constituencies with the theme: “Towards Ifako-Ijaiye constituency on a Peaceful and Credible Election.“(NAN)

Avoid Fungal and bacteria Growth - Dry your panties in the Sun

In as much as it is meant not to be seen outside, health reasons outweigh such beliefs. Spreading your panties out in the sun allows the sun rays sterilise the pants and remove all the moisture that would have been there if dried indoors. If panties are left indoors, the moist atmosphere in the bedroom and bathroom allow for microorganisms such as fungi to breed on them which may in turn affect the person wearing them.

How to care for your panties

*Soak them with a nice perfumed detergent before you wash so as to help remove the stains and make washing easier.

*Do not mix coloured pants with plain coloured pants, they should be washed separately so as to preserve their colour and life span.

*You may use panty liners after your monthly period to keep fresh and retain the colour of your pants.

*Be mindful of how long you use your panties, you shouldn’t use them till they become slack or colourless. You are advised to change your pants every three months.

*Dispose in the dustbin or burn the old ones.

*Store your pants well, may be in a drawer or a toilet bag preferably.

Alleged sale of Edo assets: Govt, APC blast PDP Read more

BENIN—Edo State Government and the state chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, have described as lies and mischief, allegation by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the Governor Godwin Obaseki administration was selling off the assets of the state.

The APC, through its state chairman, Anselm Ojezua, said: “Most of the assets went moribund under the PDP administration. So I wonder the assets they said were sold by this government.” On his part, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, said: “Rather than selling assets as the PDP allegede, the Obaseki administration has added more assets which the PDP administration failed to do.”

The PDP chairman in Edo State, Chief Dan Orbih, had alleged that assets such as the Ubiaja rice mill, a rubber processing plant, oil palm mill in Ekpoma, had been sold while the processes for the alleged sale of Edo Line was in top gear.

But Ojezua denied the allegations, saying: “Each time PDP talks about assets, I am amused because under their watch, all the assets we had, including Edo Line, went bankrupt. Some of them, AMCOM helped to up their debts but when the PDP government could not pay, AMCOM took over some of the assets. “So, why are they calling Obaseki’s name.

Obaseki is not selling assets, rather, he is revamping the ones killed by the PDP.” On its part, the state government said that the Obaseki-led administration does not have any project that drains the resources of the state. “The governor has, rather, added value to several investments of the state government, namely, Edo Fertiliser and Chemical Plant, which has been producing fertiliser for Edo farmers; the development of the Benin Industrial Park and the Gelegele Seaport, for which soil test had been concluded, with other preliminary activities ongoing. “Also worthy of mentioning is the training of Edo teachers (which was oversubscribed) for the about 300 technology-driven primary school classrooms being designed for the state; the several completed and ongoing road projects as well as the reconstruction of Benin Science and Technical College, among others.”

Naysayers spending money to distort truth about Nigeria – Lai Mohammed Read more

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said that naysayers had taken to Social Media and spending huge amounts of money to distort the situation in Nigeria.

The Minister stated this at a mini town hall meeting which he organised for members of staff of the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin, Germany and a cross-section of Nigerians residing in the European country.

Mohammed was in Berlin to attend a meeting of African Tourism Ministers, on the sidelines of the International Travel Trade Fair in the German capital.

A statement issued on the mini town hall meeting in Berlin was made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Mr Segun Adeyemi, the Special Adviser to the minister.

The minister said the naysayers, who were hoping to override the string of achievements by the present administration in the country, were spending huge amounts of money to spread fake news about Nigeria. He said: “Contrary to the fake news being peddled in the Social Media by the naysayers, President Muhammadu Buhari is putting Nigeria back on its feet.

“That is why Nigerians at home and abroad must ensure they have access to authentic information. “One way is to download the FGNiAPP on their hand-held devices. It is free.”

”The economy is on a steady growth, as attested to be by the latest report from the National Bureau of Statistics: “The economy attracted 12.2 billion dollars in foreign investments in 2017, up from $5.38 billion in 2016. “That represents 138 per cent increase.

‘’The economy further consolidated its recovery from recession with GDP growing by 1.92 per cent in Q4 2017,compared to 1.40 per cent in Q3 2017 and a contraction of -1.73 per cent in Q4 2016;.

“This means the economy ended 2017 with a growth of 0.82 per cent compared to a contraction of -1.58 per cent in 2016. “GDP growth in Q4 2017 was driven by growth in crop production, crude production and natural gas, metal ores, construction, transportation and storage, trade, electricity and gas production,. “These are indications that the administration’s diversification effort is working.”

Mohammed blamed the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen on environmental, rather than ethnic or religious issues. He noted that contrary to the narrative being pushed in certain quarters that gave ethnic and religious coloration to the clashes, they were caused by purely environmental issues.

Mohammed said whereas, Nigeria’s population in 1963 was about 48 million, ‘’it is now about 180 million with the country’s land mass remaining the same.’’ He said the implication was that, there were more people per square kilometre, adding that this development raised the chances of clashes over dwindling resources.

The minister also said that Lake Chad that which used to provide water and other resources to more than 30 million people in four countries, including Nigeria in the early 1960s had shrunk by about 90 per cent. He said the lake which had shrunk from 25,000 square kilometres to 2,500 square kilometres, forced those affected to move south in search of resources.

”These and other reasons, like desertification, have altered the resource landscape, heightened competition for dwindling resources and raised the possibility of clashes between farmers and herders.” Mohammed, who assured of the Federal Government’s commitment to finding lasting solution to the clashes, noted that the establishment of ranches was one sure way of reducing such clashes.

He, however, said that in resolving the crisis, both the farmers and the herders must be willing to shift slightly from their positions grounded in their way of life over centuries. For his part, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Alhaji Yusuf Tuggar, commended the patriotism and dedication of the Nigerians in Diaspora, especially those in Germany.

”There is a burgeoning Nigerian community (in Germany), committed to the prosperity of Nigeria. “They are well in tune with the policies of the Nigerian government and they are accomplished men and women and worthy ambassadors,” he said. In their comments, some leaders of the Nigerian Diaspora commended the government for the progress being made in lifting up the country. They stressed the need to step up efforts to ensure the security of life and property in order to attract more foreign investors to the country.

A naysayer is a person who says something will not or is not possible , or one who is skeptical or cynical about something.

Herdsmen kill at least 5 persons in Plateau Read more....

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have killed at least five people in central Nigeria‘s Plateau state, police said Saturday, in the latest violence linked to tensions over grazing rights.

Thursday’s attack happened just as President Muhammadu Buhari was rounding up a tour of Plateau and four other flashpoint states.

“The gunmen were believed to be herdsmen. They attacked some communities in Miango district and killed five people,” state police spokesman Terna Tyopev told AFP. He said dozens of people were injured while many houses and properties were destroyed in the mayhem.

Local media said apart from the incident in Miango, six people were also killed at Ganda village in Bokkos local government area of the state. The police could not immediately confirm the attack. Speaking to Nigeria‘s Guardian newspaper, community leader, Matawa Mankut put the toll at six dead when cattle rearers invaded the village on Friday.

“We are at the burial ground in Ganda village to give the deceased a mass burial,” he said, urging the authorities to end the violence. Since the start of the year, Nigeria has seen a growing number of clashes between largely nomadic herders and farmers over land, water and grazing rights.

Buhari has been under pressure to end the killings.

Plateau state lies in Nigeria‘s so-called Middle Belt that separates the predominantly Muslim north from the largely Christian south. It has long been a hotbed of ethnic, sectarian and religious tensions between indigenous farming communities, who are mainly Christian, and the nomadic Hausa/Fulani cattle herders, who are Muslim.

Tensions have boiled over access to land and resources, escalating into a rift that has deepened along nominally religious lines. In January, eight people were killed in tit-for-tat attacks in the rural districts of Bokkos and Bassa of the state

Happiness to Nigerians: Atiku floors Buhari in online poll by Reno

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has floored President Muhammadu Buhari in an online poll for bringing happiness to Nigerians, conducted by the number one bestselling author and former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri on Wednesday. The poll conducted on the twitter handle of Pastor Omokri saw Atiku thrashing Buhari with a whopping difference of 33 percent, having polled 56 per cent as against Buhari who polled 24 percent. Others added in the contest are the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and the ChAIRMAN, National Caretaker Committee, NCC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi. In the poll, Governor Okorocha beat Senator Makarfi with a 4 per cent margin, having polled 12 per cent as against Makarfi who polled 8 per cent. In the poll, Pastor Omokri posed a question thus: “Which of the following do you think would increase your ‘happiness’ as a Nigerian if voted in as President in 2019?” The poll had, as at the time of this report, a total of 6, 973 votes which were cast under one hour. Recall that just yesterday, Nigerians were presented with a first ever portfolio in Imo state, the state ministry of Happiness and purpose fulfillment”, created by the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha who also appointed his sister as the Commissioner for the ministry. The ministry generated and still generates a lot of controversy as, many praised the creation while others criticised it.
