Jesus’ life fulfills God’s original purpose for mankind. The New Testament offers better promises to us than the Old. Christ is a better High Priest. He serves eternally in heaven rather than on earth. His sacrifice takes care of the problem of sin once and for all.

Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. - Hebrews 6:1-2

One of the most wondrous aspects of Christmas is witnessing the birth of Christ being celebrated all over the world. “Joy to the world; the Lord is come. Let earth receive her King.”

The words of the beloved hymn “Joy to the World,” written by Isaac Watts, lift triumphant voices to the Heavens every Christmas. And yet they were originally written glorifying the return of Jesus. Still, one can imagine a heavenly chorus proclaiming their joy with those very words the night of His birth.

Joy to the world! The Lord is come;

Let earth receive her King;

Let every heart prepare Him room.

He is the Alpha and Omega. With His birth, we both celebrate the gift God has sent to the world – His only Son – and rest in the hope of His swift return. He is the beginning and the end.

Nigerian Army Promotes 117 Senior Officers

 

The Nigerian Army Council has approved the promotion of 117 senior officers to higher ranks.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director, Army Public Relations Brig-Gen Onyema Nwachukwu and made available to newsmen Wednesday.

Brig-Gen Nwachukwu revealed that 41 Brigadier Generals were promoted to the rank of Major Generals, while 76 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General.

He said,”The Army Council has on Tuesday the 21st of December 2021, approved the promotion of senior officers to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General respectively. A total of 41 Brigadier Generals were meritoriously promoted to the enviable rank of Major General, while 76 Colonels were also elevated to the rank of Brigadier General.

“Amongst those promoted to the rank of Major General include – Brigadier General CU Onwunle Director, Directorate of Army Data Processing Lagos, Brigadier General M Danmadami Research Fellow/Subject Expert, Indian Sub-Continental at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Abuja, Brigadier General OJ Akpor, Director Military Training Nigerian Defence Academy, Brigadier General UT Musa of the Department of Administration Army Headquarters Abuja, Brigadier General AA Eyitayo, Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division/ JTF NE Operation HADIN KAI Maiduguri, Borno State.

“Others are Brigadier General V Ebhaleme of Defence Space Administration Abuja, Brigadier General LT Omoniyi of Department of Civil Military Affairs Abuja and Brigadier General NU Muktar Acting Director of Procurement at the Office of the Chief of Army Staff, Army Headquarters Abuja amongst others.”
