HOW TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO HURT YOU

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32
Is this true for you? – someone at the church you attend bothers you so much that sometimes you would just rather stay home from church!

Does an “enemy” keep you away from church?
The day before He died, Jesus told His disciples that the most important command He was giving them was to love each other (John 15:12-17). During the whole final evening with them, He was preparing them for life after His death, resurrection, and ascension to Heaven (John 13-17). He had kept them together as His disciples for the past three years, and now they needed to know how they could remain together even though they would be spread to different parts of the world. Jesus’ answer was love for one another, which would unite them.

We also need help in loving each other, even when there are disagreements among us in the church. The disciples had missed Jesus’ point so often, argued with one another and hoped to gain advantage over one another. (Luke 22:24-30). Without Him walking with them, would selfishness and bitterness divide them? Not if they listened to what He said. He told His disciples they must always forgive each other, and this is what we, too, must do. We must not allow anger and bitterness to grow. When that happens, we become ineffective witnesses for Him.

How am I to forgive another Christian who hurts me?
Jesus was committing His disciples to one another as an eternal family. This means a few things:

First, it's pretty much impossible to avoid offending others in this life, so we should not pretend we're never offensive. Siblings don't always get along. But they never stop being family. What does it take to maintain peace? You have to go to someone who feels wronged—even if you don't know what you did wrong. Jesus even gave this priority over our worship in Matthew 5:23-24.

Second, because we know we've done things that give others reason to be offended, forgive others. They may not even know what they did wrong. Go to them. Be persistent and patient. (Matthew 18:15-22) Jesus never runs out of forgiveness for us; we have to be the same way.

Why should I forgive, even when they are not sorry?
One of my dear friends was the victim of a conspiracy in her family. Divorced and raising two children on her own had made life a struggle, but then her father and younger sister agreed to bypass her in the inheritance of some family property. It caused her to curse and forsake her family for years. She even emigrated to another country in order to make an irreversible break in her family relationships.

But then, something happened to change her mind. She found Jesus. It was a few years before she reconciled with her family. They didn't recompense her for the lost property or years of hard work. But when God changed her life, He gave her first the desire, then later, the actual power, to forgive. Looking back, she now sees clearly how unforgiveness is really what hurt her and cost her the most. It really wasn't until she released her hold on it that she herself was free.

When Jesus said in Matthew 6:14-15 that we cannot be forgiven if we do not forgive others, He was telling us two things: 1) not forgiving someone is disobedience to Him, and 2) we cannot see our own need for forgiveness if we keep anger and bitterness in our hearts. In essence, forgiving someone is more about our relationship with Jesus than with that person.

How do we forgive when we do not feel like doing so? Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling. We must choose to obey. It may be that we must say to Jesus, “I do not want to forgive because that makes what they did right, and it was not right! But I want to be near You more than I want to keep this anger, so I choose to forgive. Help me, Lord Jesus!” Then, the next time you remember what they did or you see them at church or anywhere else, you can simply say to Jesus, “I have given this to You, I will not take it back.” It will not be long before you realize you are free from the slavery of what this person did. You are free from anger and bitterness. You are free to do or say whatever Jesus asks you to say to them with peace in your heart (Philippians 4:7, and Luke 12:11-12).

Pray this week:
Lord Jesus, I have trouble forgiving ___ in my church. I choose to obey You because I need Your peace more than I need proof of being right or even worldly justice. I give this situation into Your hands; help me to leave it with You. Help me also to speak Your words to them so we may be reconciled to each other for the work of Your kingdom.

One Game Cut Your Ticket?
One Game Cut Your Ticket?
NairaBET rewards punters who were unlucky because one game spoilt their ticket. Imagine playing a bet of 15 games with N100 and you wanted to win N200,000 and one game spoils that ticket. It is usually very painful. Other bookies will just keep your money.

At NairaBET, we will pay you a part of that N200,000.00 winning. Some other bookies will return the amount you used to stake which is just a hundred Naira (N100).

HOW IT WORKS

Only accumulators of 10 games and above qualify for this reward
Each bet on the ticket must have a minimum odds of 1.2. If there is any game less than odds of 1.2 on the ticket, the ticket will not be eligible for reward.
Adding any game of less than 1.2 on the ticket disqualifies it even if there are other 10 games with minimum of 1.2.
Imagine you placed a 10 game accumulator with N100 and your expected returns was N250,000 and your accumulator bonus was N50,000 making N300,000. If a game of 1.5 odd spoils your bet, this is how we will calculate it.
You were expecting N300,000 in total. We will take out the bonus of N50,000 which gives us N250,000.
We will take out the 1.5 game that spoilt the ticket. N250,000 divided by 1.5 is N166,666, We will divide the result (166,666.66) by 10 and subtract the unit stake (Unit stake is the amount placed on a bet slip divided by the number of games selected on that bet slip) from the result (16,666.66 – 10). The result (16,656.66) is the compensation we will credit into your account.
You placed an accumulator with N100 but lost it because a game spoilt it but we pay you N16,565.66 for a bet you lost.

6 Reasons Nigerians should visit Ghana

The West African countries of Ghana and Nigeria have an ongoing rivalry between them akin to that of siblings. From football, to politics, to entertainment, citizens of each country always want to demonstrate their superiority over the other, howbeit not in a hateful or biased manner. It is always more bants than facts. There have been several episodes, of ‘social media wars’ or ‘Twitter Fights’ between citizens of both countries that leaves us all clutching our stomach with laughter. Through it all though, it is obvious that it is all love and sport.

In this post, we attempt to give reasons why Nigerians, despite the rivalry with their Ghanian counterparts, should visit the Gold Coast. Just like Nigeria, Ghana is rich in history, mineral resources, culture, tradition and places of interest to see and visit.

Many Nigerians do not even know that in Ghana you have Hausa and Fulani speaking people like there are in Nigeria.

Cousins
Ghanians are like cousins to Nigerians. Visiting Ghana for a Nigerian is like visiting your cousins for holiday. There are lots you share in common, but somehow you all still do things differently. Case in point, the jollof. When Nigerians visit Ghana there is an air of familiarity about the place, some lingo and slangs are commonly used, but their pidgin is still very confusing.

Food
Shitor. Banku. Waakye. Jollof. The list is endless really. Ghanian cuisine can be a joy to experience and even though the eternal battle over whose jollof is better still rages on, no Nigerian should visit Ghana without tasting the jollof. Ghanaian food is actually so popular in Nigeria that there are bukas and restaurants in Lagos dedicated to selling just Ghanaian meals. The most popular among them is Ghana High.

Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale is Ghana’s biggest music sensation at the moment. And only recently he has had a war of words with Nigerian pop artistes on social media. As long as you are not one to take these things too seriously, visiting Ghana to see a Shatta Wale show should be on your list of things to do, at least that way you can see what the hype is about yourself and tell if he is as great as he says he really is.

Beaches
Ghana is blessed with such an impressive stretch of beach line. If you are tired of the Elegushi and Oniru beaches of Lagos, switch it up by exploring the coastline of Labadi and Kobrobite. If you are enthusiastic about wildlife, visit the Cocoloco beach where you would find turtles and a large number of river birds. Beach Resorts in Ghana are beautiful and spending a night or more in one of them would greatly enrich your Ghana experience. Hospitality in Ghana is amazing with big establishments and accra hotels offering top notch service to travelers.

Charle Wote
We have Calabar Carnival. They have Charle Wote. This annual street cum art festival does get bigger and better every year with amazing exhibitions, musical performances, art installations, food, merchandise vendors as well as live music and dance that goes on well into the night. For anyone who enjoys having a good time, when in Ghana, Charle Wote is a must attend.

Nigerian Community
There is a perpetually growing Nigerian community in Ghana and visiting Ghana would definitely feel like home. It wont be long before you notice the familiar accent of a Nigerian, no matter where he is from back home and quickly tag them as your brother or your sister. Especially in Ghanian Universities where many Nigerians turn to as an alternative to schooling in Europe or right here at home.

Breaking: EFCC confirms arrests of ex-DSS boss, Ekpenyong

Abuja – The former Director General of the Department of State Security, Mr. Ita Ekpenyong, has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes in Abuja.

Mr. Ekpenyong was taken away by the operatives at 3:20 pm on Thursday from his abode at Number 46, Mamman Nasir Street, in upscale Asokoro District of Abuja.

The arrest, according to EFCC source, is in connection with funds said to have been released to the DSS and NIA last year under the previous administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan for the conduct of the 2015 election.

The money, the source said, was not fully utilised and it is being suspected that Ekpenyong left behind a huge amount of cash that cannot be accounted for. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the search of Ekpenyong’s home.

Uwujaren said, “Our men went there to do the work that they were prevented from doing about ten months ago,” but did not give further details.

West Ham sign striker Perez from Arsenal

London – West Ham United has signed striker Lucas Perez from Arsenal on a three-year contract, both English Premier League clubs confirmed on Thursday.

The 29-year-old is West Ham’s seventh signing of the close season.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but local media said West Ham had paid about 4 million pounds for the Spaniard.

Perez joined Arsenal in August 2016 from Deportivo la Coruna but started just two Premier League games for the London club, making another nine appearances off the bench. He was later loaned back to the Spanish side the following season.
“I’m very happy to be here at such an historic club,”
he said in a statement on West Ham’s website.

“I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.”

West Ham director of football Mario Husillos said Perez’s arrival would increase new manager Manuel Pellegrini’s options upfront. This is in view of the fact that Andy Carroll is set to miss West Ham’s season opener at Liverpool on Sunday due to injury.

“His style is different from the other strikers we have available to us, and that gives the manager more options for our attacking play,” Husillos said. “Lucas also has experience of the Premier League with Arsenal, and is familiar with life here in London, which of course means that he will take less time to adapt and be ready.”

The English transfer window closes at 1600 GMT (05:00 p.m. BST) on Thursday.(Reuters/NAN)

2019: Lawmaker, others pass vote of confidence on Ambode

Lagos – A Lagos lawmaker, Mr Rasheed Makinde on Thursday passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state for outstanding performance.

Akinwunmi Ambode

Makinde, member representing Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly gave the commendation at the Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting in Lagos. He singled out Ambode for his administration intervention on inner roads of Ojokoro.

The lawmaker, who described Ambode as a responsive governor and passionate about involving people in policy making, however, called on him to do more on school, hospital and inner road constructions. According to him, Ambode has constructed no fewer than 35 roads in the constituency among many other projects. “Gov. Ambode has affirmed his pro-activeness by doing very well and we pass a vote of confidence on him, come 2019 elections.

The same can be said of the Lagos Assembly. “When he got wind of complaints from my constituency; on the poor state of inner roads after the completion of the jubilee bridge in Abule Egba, he immediately called the contractors to site, to right the wrongs. “We appreciate this prompt remedial and noble action of our governor, the people of Ojokoro never had it this good prior this moment, we will mobilise more votes for him in 2019.

“In my constituency, we need more schools, general hospital, stadium and many more,’’ he said. According to him, the space of work may slow down because of the electioneering campaigns, but the governor has affected many lives and communities. Also speaking, a traditional ruler, Chief Bolarinwa Adebayo from Ajegunle in the council said: “Ambode has transformed Lagos to a state of my dream.“ “His ideology is priceless. “I want him to come to Gbeleyi community. The street where my palace is situated is an eye sore.“ Alhaji Azeez Hamzat, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Ojokoro also commended Ambode for allowing community participation in his governance.

“The governor has been performing creditably well. He has been doing things that former administrations find difficult to do, that is, getting grassroots involved in the government decisions. “The idea of making people select what they want has made him achieve a lot. In the last few years, construction of roads has been massive in almost all the Community Development Areas (CDAs) and councils.

“His impacts are felt in all sectors,’’ he said. The community leader, who commended Ambode’s feats in education, transport, road construction and security, however, urged him to intensify efforts on more road constructions. Chief Oladejo Akinloye, the Babaloja-General of Ojokoro, who also commended Ambode and promised massive votes for him in 2019 general elections, called for more transformation of markets in the state.

Another resident of the area, Mr Tunde El-Rufia, told NAN that the governor had done a lot in developing the community but that more still beckoned for his attention. The meeting, organised by the Lagos Assembly held simultaneously across the 40 state constituencies with the theme: “Towards Ifako-Ijaiye constituency on a Peaceful and Credible Election.“(NAN)
