Happiness to Nigerians: Atiku floors Buhari in online poll by Reno

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has floored President Muhammadu Buhari in an online poll for bringing happiness to Nigerians, conducted by the number one bestselling author and former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Pastor Reno Omokri on Wednesday. The poll conducted on the twitter handle of Pastor Omokri saw Atiku thrashing Buhari with a whopping difference of 33 percent, having polled 56 per cent as against Buhari who polled 24 percent. Others added in the contest are the Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha and the ChAIRMAN, National Caretaker Committee, NCC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ahmed Makarfi. In the poll, Governor Okorocha beat Senator Makarfi with a 4 per cent margin, having polled 12 per cent as against Makarfi who polled 8 per cent. In the poll, Pastor Omokri posed a question thus: “Which of the following do you think would increase your ‘happiness’ as a Nigerian if voted in as President in 2019?” The poll had, as at the time of this report, a total of 6, 973 votes which were cast under one hour. Recall that just yesterday, Nigerians were presented with a first ever portfolio in Imo state, the state ministry of Happiness and purpose fulfillment”, created by the Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha who also appointed his sister as the Commissioner for the ministry. The ministry generated and still generates a lot of controversy as, many praised the creation while others criticised it.

Polls must ‘ratify’ Catalonia’s desire for independence – Puigdemont Read more

Catalonia’s deposed leader Carles Puigdemont Saturday launched his campaign for regional elections by calling on Catalans to make known their desire for independence.

Catalonia’s sacked leader Carles Puigdemont delivers a speech during a meeting with Catalan mayors in Brussels on November 7, 2017. Around 200 pro-independence Catalan mayors flew to Brussels on November 7 and held a protest demanding the release of their region’s “political prisoners”. Puigdemont claimed on November 7, 2017, that he fled to Belgium because Spain was preparing a “wave of oppression and violence” against his separatist movement.

“We Catalans demonstrated to the world that we have the capacity and the will to become an independent state. And on (December) 21, we must ratify this,” he said in Oostkamp in Belgium, where he travelled after the Catalan parliament declared unilateral independence. Puigdemont was sacked as Catalan president after that declaration on October 27 as was his entire regional government. Madrid imposed direct rule on the once semi-autonomous region to stop the independence drive.
At the time, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy also dissolved the Catalan parliament and called next month’s elections in a bid to “restore normality” to the region. Puigdemont, who is awaiting possible extradition to Spain where he is wanted on charges of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds, is running at the head of the Junts per Catalunya (“All for Catalonia” in Catalan) grouping.
It comprises people from his conservative, separatist PDeCAT party as well as members of civil society. – Disunity – Puigdemont had hoped to form a united separatist front for the new elections, as was the case in the region’s last elections in 2015, when the pro-independence camp secured a majority of 72 seats in the 135-seat parliament, even though it won just 47.8 percent of the vote. But ERC — the party of his former vice-president Oriol Junqueras, who stayed in Spain and was remanded in custody by a judge investigating him and other former regional ministers on the same charges as Puigdemont — rejected a joint ticket.
Opinion polls suggest that ERC is leading in the current campaign, which officially opens on December 5.
And they predict that separatist parties and those for unity with Spain will be neck and neck. “This moment transcends political parties,” Puigdemont said in Oostkamp.
“It’s time for us to be activists for Catalonia, which is what people want.” It is unclear whether Puigdemont will still be in Belgium when the elections take place. If Belgium decides to extradite him to Spain, he faces jail pending a probe into the charges against him.
Spanish MEP Esteban Gonzalez Pons, a member of Rajoy’s conservative Popular Party, said Saturday it was “surreal” that Puigdemont was launching his campaign from Belgium. “He’s not in exile in Brussels, but looking for a hideout. Puigdemont doesn’t live in Brussels, he’s hiding there,” he said in an event in Ibiza. The separatist crisis began in earnest on October 1 when separatist leaders held an independence referendum despite a court ban, in which they said 90 percent opted to break from Spain even if less than half of eligible voters turned out in the deeply divided region.

Arsenal must win ‘electric’ derby, says Cech Read more.....

Arsenal must win an “electric” north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur to issue a statement of intent to both their local rivals and other top-four contenders, goalkeeper Petr Cech has said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash.

Arsenal last beat Tottenham in a 2015 League Cup tie, but have failed to register a league win over their neighbours since 2014, drawing four and losing two of the last six league meetings between the sides.

As Tottenham have risen to prominence over recent years, the derby has become more closely contested and Cech has backed his team mates, to get a meaningful victory for everyone at the Emirates outfit.

“With the atmosphere and the electricity in the crowd…,“ Cech told the club’s website.

“You need to win a game like this and not only because it’s a derby, but because it’s a rival that challenges us for a top-four spot. “You need to make sure in these types of games that you get all three points. “It means so much to everybody…

That’s a little bit of extra pressure on players as well and I think it’s the kind of situation where your performance usually rises… “The atmosphere makes it more special to players as well.”

Arsenal are sixth in the standings, four points behind third-placed Tottenham and 12 behind leaders Manchester City, with six wins in 11 league games.

Kogi poly student kidnapped, abductors demand N10m

A student of the Kogi State Polytechnic, Miss Adebanjo Adetutu, has been kidnapped.

Adedutu, who is a final-year Higher National Diploma student of the Department of Office Technology Management, was abducted by unknown men along the Itakpe-Lokoja-Okene Road. She was said to be travelling to her home town in Ogun State when the kidnappers struck.

The incident occurred almost at the same time that three stalwarts of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, Kogi State chapter, were kidnapped in the state.

The Director of Students’ Affairs, National Association of Kogi State Students, Mr. Salihu Lukman, in a statement made available to our correspondent, said the kidnappers had earlier demanded the sum of N10m as ransom and later reduced it to N500,000.

“As I speak to you, negotiation is still ongoing. Today makes it the fourth day since Adetutu was kidnapped and her poor mother, who happens to be a widow, cannot afford the ransom. We are pleading with the government and the general public to come to the aid of this poor child so that we can secure her release,” he said.

Lukman also said the Kogi State Police Command had been informed about the incident and the Commissioner of Police, Ali Janga, promised to secure Adetutu’s release within the shortest possible time.

Kogi to implement no-work no-pay policy Read more...

ABUJA—GOVERNOR Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, yesterday, said he will implement the Federal Government’s no-work no-pay policy, stating that only “political civil servants” were on strike, as “real civil servants” in the state were on their duty posts every day. Governor Bello, who stated this after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed-door at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, also said the state security apparatus had adopted new style to deal with criminal elements.

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State

He added that the state was secured and hosting expatriates that had cashed in on its friendly atmosphere to invest, noting that his government owed workers two months salaries. Bello said: “I came to brief Mr. President of developments in Kogi State. I need to give him updates on happenings in the state and he is pleased with the briefing that I gave to him. And he encouraged me to keep up the good job that I am doing.”

On the security situation in the state, he said: “On the scale of one to 10, we are 70 percent; we are doing very well even though the challenges are still there. “Security is not what you tackle once and for all, you have to continue to do your best. The criminals, kidnappers, robbers, hoodlums will always device various tactics. They may change styles we have to change along with them and be ahead of them at any point in time in order to keep Kogi State secure and Kogi is currently secure.

“Politically, Kogi State is really very stable. It is just a few Diaspora politicians that are making noise in the media and I think you cannot stop them from making noise. We always allow them to make noise when they want to, but the reality on ground is that Kogi State is very stable politically.”

Court summons Senator Abaribe over Nnamdi Kanu’s disappearance.....

- A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja orders Senator Abaribe to give reasons why Nnamdi Kanu failed to appear in court

- Justice Binta Nyako gives Abaribe and two others options of producing Kanu or forfeiting their bail bonds of N100 million each

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the senator representing Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe, to produce Nnamdi Kanu or forfeit his bail bond of N100 million which he paid to the court in respect of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The court gave the ruling on Tuesday, October 17, after Senator Abaribe applied to the court to discharge him from the suretyship, bond and recognizance of the bail of Kanu. Justice Binta Nyako ordered the senator to appear before the court to give reasons why the IPOB leader failed to appear for his trial. Nyako also gave Abaribe and the two others three options of producing Kanu, forfeiting their bail bonds of N100 million each or asking for more time to produce the first defendant.

She said Abaribe can only be discharged from his suretyship only and when the first defendant - Kanu - is made available for his trial or forfeit his N100 million bail bond. NAIJ.com had earlier reports that Nnamdi Kanu was absent in court as hearings on his trial commenced. Kanu who was expected to appear before Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court is no where in sight. Raising the issue, the director of public prosecution, S. M Labaran said the state fears that the trial might not go on as planned. Labaran said the first defendant who was granted bail on August 25, on the grounds of medical challenge was not present in court. Below are some photos taken by NAIJ.com photo journalist, Sodiq Adelakun, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, October 17.

Rodents Invasion: FG Budgeted N4.9bn For Environmental Services In Aso Rock

Rodents Invasion: FG Budgeted N4.9bn For Environmental Services In Aso Rock

Muhammadu Buhari — who just returned after a three-month medical vacation in London — will be working from his residence in Aso Rock.
The reason given for this was renovations in the president’s office.
However, Garba Shehu, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity, has come out with the news that the renovation was as a result of various damages rodents had caused.
“Rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units,” Shehu told THISDAY.
Checks by TheCable revealed that for 2017, N4, 953,184,635b was appropriated for annual routine maintenance of mechanical/electrical installations, building/civil and environmental services within and around Aso-Rock villa facilities.
These facilities include offices of the president and the vice-president.
There is another N139.4m for the maintenance of office buildings and residential quarters in the state house. Also, N52. 8m was appropriated for sewerage charges.
Reactions have continued to trail Shehu’s remarks, and some Nigerians are surprised how rodents could find their way into the president’s office.
“Did the cleaners/maintenance personnel attached to the office also go on the three-month leave with Buhari?” Ayuba Ayus, a Facebook user, asked.
Checking further, TheCable found that in the 2017 appropriation, the state house is to spend N40.8m on rehabilitation of animal enclosures, procurement of vet lab equipment, feeding and medication of wild and domestic animals in the state house zoo.
If the rodents that took over the president’s office while he was away are those from the state house zoo, then those in charge of feeding them should be questioned on why the rodents had nothing to eat, finding their way to feasting on the furniture in the president’s office.

1914-1999 Constitution of Nigeria- Constitutional Development

NIGERIA: CONSTITUTION DEVELOPMENT HISTORY
Nigeria is a creation of the Constitution. Nigeria grew into an internationally recognised independent nation, in 1960, after a period of colonialism under the British government which spanned about a century beginning with the formal annexation of Lagos in 1861. Nigeria’s constitutional development history can be divided into two epochs or generations: the colonial or pre-independence epoch –which covers 6 constitutional instruments (1914, 1922, 1946, 1951, 1954 and 1960) and the post-independence constitutional epochs (encompassing 3 instruments - 1963, 1979 and 1999). While each successive pre-independence constitutional instrument was enacted through an order-in-council of the British monarch, their post-independence counterparts were enacted in two ways: an Act of parliament (1963 Constitution) and military decree (1979 and 1999).

The one ‘Nigeria’ story began in 1914 with the Frederick Lugard Constitution. The 1914 Constitution amalgamated the Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria with the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria under the colonial authority of the British Monarch. The emergent entity was administered under the authority of the British monarch through her appointed agent: a Governor-General. Lord Frederick Lugard was the 1st Governor-General of amalgamated Nigeria. The 1914 Constitution created a Legislative Council of the Colony which was however restricted to making laws for the Colony of Lagos alone, whilst the Governor General made laws for the rest of the country.

Eight years later, the 1914 Constitution was replaced by the 1922 Sir Clifford Constitution. Notably, the latter Constitution established a 46 member Legislative Council which was given law making responsibilities for the Colony of Lagos and the southern provinces. The Council had 27 members including the Governor, the Lieutenant-Governors, other elected and nominated members including three representing Lagos as the administrative and commercial capital and one representing Calabar as a big commercial centre. Notably, the 1922 Constitution introduced, for the first time in any British African territory, the elective principle with Lagos and Calabar being granted the franchise to elect their representatives to the Legislative Council.

1946 saw the adoption of the Arthur Richard Constitution which defined Nigeria, for the first time, in terms of regions - thus dividing the still colonised country into three main regions: the Northern, Western and Eastern regions. This constitution came into effect after the Second World War – an event which had a significant effect on constitutional reforms relating to the governance of colonial Nigeria, and indeed Africa as a whole, as returning African heroes of the war who were conscripted to fight on the side of the British returned with a deeper understanding of national freedom and international sovereignty. In addition, the charter of the United Nations which was adopted after the war made strong reference to the freedom of colonised peoples under the principle of respect for self-determination.

The chain of events culminated in the formation of the National Council for Nigeria and Cameroons, which later became the National council of Nigerian Citizens, (N.C.N.C), an organization which engaged in the active mobilization of the indigenous peoples of Nigeria to harness the global tide in favour of self-determination and political independence from the shackles of colonialism. The 1946 Constitution was thus a compromise instrument on the part of the British colonialist designed to establish a constitutional framework in which all sections of Nigeria could be represented on the Legislative Council and which guarantees an unofficial majority both in the House of Assembly and in the legislative council for indigenous Nigerians.

Five years later, the 1946 Richards Constitution was again ditched in favour of the 1951 Sir John Macpherson Constitution. Whereas its successor suffered from the charge of being an imposition of the British colonialists without any input from the indigenous people of Nigeria, the 1951 Macpherson Constitution came into being after an unprecedented process of consultation with the peoples of Nigeria. According to Dikemgba “no other constitution so widely reached out to the people than the Macpherson constitution of 1951”. Instructively, meetings and consultations leading down to its making were held at 5 levels – Village, District, Divisional, Provincial and Regional levels – before the national conference. The regional conferences were held at Ibadan, Enugu and Kaduna, respectively and produced a general consensus in favour of a federal system of government with a few differences as to its format. The emergent Constitution represented a major advancement on the old constitutional order by introducing African elected majorities in the Central Legislature and in the Regional Houses of Assembly; endowing the legislative houses with independent legislative power in many area of state activity; and establishing a federal system for Nigeria for the first time.

Nonetheless, within three years of its operation, it soon became clear that the expansion of the political space and regional identities fostered by the 1951 Constitution were not backed up by the requisite institutional framework or insightful national leadership for the management of inherent and other tensions or conflict, at the national and regional levels, which followed its enactment. In the wake of reports of violent eruptions in the northern city of Kano which pitched northerners against southerners leading to massive loss of lives and property, the then British Secretary of State for the Colonies, Oliver Lyttleton stepped in by inviting the leaders of various political parties in Nigeria to attend a conference in London, in 1953. The outcome of that conference and another cycle of conference and consultations which followed was the 1954 Lyttleton Constitution.

The 1954 Constitution, among others, made regional governments independent of the central government in respect of subjects and legislative powers allocated to them. It also established a unicameral legislature for the federal government and each of the 3 regional governments. In addition, Lagos was taken out of the control of any regional government and made the Federal Capital Territory; regional public services were established for each of the 3 regions; the judiciary was reorganised so as to establish regional judiciaries while autonomy was granted to the Southern Cameroons which was up till that time part of a larger Nigeria and Northern Cameroons. Specifically, for the first time, Ministers were given specific portfolios. Thus, the Lyttleton Constitution could best be described as the transition instrument towards Nigeria’s independence in 1960 under a federal structure with democratically elected federal and regional legislature.

In 1960, Nigeria was granted political independence as a sovereign state under the 1960 Constitution which provided for a parliamentary system of government, 3 regions (Northern, Eastern and Western Regions), a bicameral legislative framework at the federal (Senate and House of Representatives) and regional levels (House of Assembly and House of Chiefs) with the legislative powers of government delineated into three categories or lists - exclusive, concurrent and residual. The parliamentary system designed under the 1960 constitution recognized the British monarch as the Head of State with powers to appoint a resident agent- the Governor-General- to exercise executive powers on her behalf while a Prime Minister elected by the federal parliament acted as the Head of the federal Executive Council. The Constitution also took steps to define ‘Nigerian citizenship’ while outlining constitutionally protected rights for citizens and persons in Nigeria.

However, by designating the Governor-General as a representative and agent of the British Queen or Monarch – instead of the People of the independent and sovereign state of Nigeria, the effect was to render Nigeria a dominion territory – a status which contradicted the very nature and basis of the independence claimed in 1960. In addition, the 1960 Constitution denied Nigeria an effective dominion over its judicial powers as it gave final appellate authority over Nigeria to the Privy Council established by the British Queen instead of the Federal Supreme Court and its judges. Those fundamental derogations from Nigeria’s sovereignty and other observed challenges in implementing the Independence Constitution led to the enactment of the 1963 Constitution.

Thus, the key features of the 1963 Constitution included the establishment of Nigeria’s 1st republic under a parliamentary system of government by replacing the Governor-General appointed by the British monarch with a President elected directly by members of the Nigerian federal legislature. In addition, in place of the Privy Council, the Federal Supreme Court became designated as the final appellate judicial authority over any person or matter in Nigeria while steps were taken to strengthen the independence of the judiciary even further.

In 1966, that Constitution was, however, set aside by a violent military coup d’etat which supplanted the 1st Republic with military dictatorship which was to last for about 13 years –including the civil war period (1966-1969), under 4 military Heads of State, ending only in 1979 when the General Olusegun Obasanjo military administration ushered in the 2nd Republic with the promulgation of a new Constitution.

The 1979 Constitution set up Nigeria under a presidential system of government with a federal government, 19 state governments, a federal capital territory, 3 arms and 3 levels of government. Like the 1963 Constitution, the life-span of the 1979 constitution was abruptly terminated on 31st December, 1983 when the civilian administration of President Shehu Shagari and Vice President Alex Ekwueme was toppled and replaced by the military dictatorship of Generals Muhammed Buhari and Tunde Idiagbon. That regime seeded 3 other extra-constitutional regimes – the General Ibrahim Babangida military dictatorship (1985-1993), Mr. Ernest Shonekan interim civilian-led regime, General Sani Abacha military dictatorship (1993-1998) and General Abdulsalami Abubakar military administration which successfully ushered in the 3rd Republic on the 27th of May, 1999 with the introduction of the 1999 Constitution.

The N-Power Volunteer Corp involves a massive deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education. Some of these graduates will also help in actualizing Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency.

N-Power will also be a platform for diversifying the economy. FG Online registration of unemployed Nigerians begins April 5th 2017

The Federal Government has said all is set for the commencement of online registration of unemployed persons in the country on Wednesday April 5th 2017.

Online registration of unemployed Nigerians begins April 5th
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Information & Public Relations, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Edmund Onwuliri on Monday.
.
According to him, the development was part of the federal government’s plan to develop and maintain a robust database of unemployed persons and for job provision.

He explained that the registration was in compliance with the third mandate of the NDE which required it “to obtain and maintain a data bank on employment and vacancies in the country with a view to acting as a clearing house to link job seekers with vacancies in collaboration with other government agencies.”

He said: “The online portal which goes live on Wednesday April 5, 2017, is designed to capture the relevant details of any unemployed person. It will equally serve as a job exchange portal that will link job seekers and employers.

“There will be a practical demonstration of the workings of the portal at the NDE stand at the on-going 28th edition of the Enugu International Trade on Thursday April 6, 2017. However, the portal can be accessed by logging on to www.jobsforall.ng

“The Directorate sees this initiative as a bold step towards deepening the effectiveness of its employment creation strategies and a critical input into the process of designing, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and schemes.

“The online portal will also serve as a meeting point for job seekers and employers thereby reducing the cumbersome process of recruitment among employers of skilled labour in the private and public sectors.”

JAMB 2017 Registration: Steps To Resolve And Avoid Cases Of Invalid E-Pins

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been drawn to cases of candidates being unable to complete their registrations due to invalid E-PINS.

According to JAMB, this is caused by the following;

1.A very high rate of candidates buying ePINS without creating their profile first.

2.Incorrect email address provided at the bank teller…..

3..Recent enforcement of email validation of candidates emails. Candidates who have not created their profile properly would be affected.

4.Unforeseen technical issues in the PIN vending system.

If you are one of those affected by this, here are the next steps you are to take.

1.Do NOT to buy new pins in the case of invalid pins. The cause of the invalid pin has been investigated

2. All candidates having invalid pins responses have been captured on the system and will receive their PIN details on or before Monday 27th March,2017.

3.Emails with candidate name, email and valid pins will be sent to candidates before Monday 27th March 2017.

To avoid the issue of invalid E-PIN, candidates MUST ensure

1. They create their profiles before proceeding to buy the ePIN. D ePIN vendors (Banks) can create d profile before vending the pin.

2. Each candidate’s email address will now be verified on the system before e-PINS are vended.

3. Any candidate with an incorrect email address will not be served. It therefore requires entering the same valid email address twice.

4. All candidates are to ensure that they provide valid phone numbers.

5. Candidates are encouraged to utilize only Jamb accredited Centers and ensure they do not patronize fraudsters.

Please send an email to JAMB directly if you are charged above the Board’s official fee at support.jamb.org.ng

BREAKING: Senate begins investigation of Melaye over alleged certificate scandal

The Nigerian Senate has kicked off an investigation into whether Senator President Bukola Saraki and Senator Dino Melaye have abused their privileges as lawmakers in the Upper House of legislature.

While Senate is investigating Saraki over claims that he allegedly used his office to seek revenge against Nigeria Customs Service boos Hameed Ali, Melaye is being investigated over claims that he may have forged his certificate with which he ran for the legislative seat.

BREAKING: Gunmen storm Benue community, 30 killed

Emerging reports suggest that 30 people have been killed in Zaki Biam, Ukum local government area of Benue state, following a raid by some gunmen suspected to herdsmen.

BREAKING: Gunmen storm Benue community, 20 killed

The raid was carried out on Monday, March 20. A community leader, Chief Udam Wuhe, said more than 10 gunmen stormed the town from TorTonda- Zaki Biam road at about 5:00pm.

According to him, the residents counted not fewer than 20 dead bodies with several others injured and many houses razed.

Daily Post reports that Wuhe could not ascertain if the attackers were Fulani herdsmen.

The incident is coming barely one week after suspected herdsmen killed over 10 person in Buruku area of the state, which led to the governor, Samuel Ortom issuing them 72 hours ultimatum to vacate the area.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, Moses Yamu, who confirmed the killing, however, said the casualty figure has not been ascertained.

“We are yet to ascertain the number of those killed in the attack. Our men are already on ground there to restore normalcy to the area,” he said.

Below are more photos from the raid.

N/B: Most of the photos are "Graphic", viewers' discretion is advised.

This day reports that most of those killed were said to be traders and businessmen.

According to an eyewitness, “the gunmen stormed the yam market on about 12 Bajaj motorcycles and four Toyota Corolla cars and started shooting at anyone in sight.”

Several cars and a fuel station were also razed as pandemonium engulfed the area.

The eyewitness described the incident as a bloodbath.

When contacted, the state commissioner of police, Bashir Makama, confirmed the killings but stated that the police were yet to ascertain the exact number of casualties.

Meanwhile, as the killings were going on, Governor Samuel Ortom was giving a run down of the security situation in state and measures taken by his government to bring an end to the invasion and attacks by herdsmen on innocent people of the state.

He stated that his decision to expel Fulani herdsmen in the affected areas of the state was to pave the way for Tiv farmers to continue their farming activities.

Ortom insisted that it was impossible for herdsmen and farmers to operate in harmony, pointing out that his administration would not fold its arms and allow people fall prey to foreigners and killers and it was his government’s responsibility to ensure security for the people

The governor further cautioned against confrontations as the herdsmen make their way out of the state, adding that the security operatives would ensure they move out safely to where they came from.

Also speaking with the residents, the state police commissioner, on behalf of other security agencies, called for caution among youths and urged them to restrain themselves from resorting to violence at the slightest provocation but to remain patient.

Makama promised that the security agencies would not relent in the discharge of their duties.

Melaye's graduation dates removed from his profile on Senate's website

The allegations that Kogi state senator, Dino Melaye did not graduate from the university thickens as the Senate makes alteration to his profile on their official website.

Sahara Reporters has alleged that the Nigerian Senate under the leadership of Senate President Bukola Saraki has made changes to Melaye's profile on the National House of Assembly's website.

Although Melaye attended the University, there were allegations he failed some of his final exams and did not graduate.

Picture evidences shows that while there were dates of graduation in his profile initially, all traces of dates have been wiped out and replace with empty space as allegations thickens.
