Godwin Obaseki says he will produce 100 millionaires in Edo state in four years, if elected as governor

– Godwin Obaseki says he will produce 100
millionaires in Edo state in four years, if
elected as governor
– The APC guber candidate residents had no
reason to be poor with the presence of
natural resources in Edo state
– Obaseki says that the process of wealth
creation required the cooperation of all
residents
Godwin Obaseki, the governorship aspirant
of the All Progressives Congress in Edo state,
has disclosed his goal is to produce 100
millionaires after four years, if elected as
governor.
Obaseki made this known on Monday,
September 19, during an interactive session
with a group, Grassroots Youth Initiative, in
the Ikpoba Okha local government area.
According to him, the residents had no
reason to be poor with the presence of
natural resources in the state, The Punch
reports.
He said: “God has blessed us in Edo. No state
is like Edo. We do not have any reason to be
poor; the only reason why we are poor is
because of bad leadership. With good
leadership, the sky is our limit.
“So, the first thing I am going to emphasise
in employment is to register the
unemployed because we have employed a
lot of people in the last eight years.”
He disclosed that the state government
would encourage the unemployed youth in
agriculture through the inauguration of an
agricultural scheme known as the anchor
programme.
He said: “We are inaugurating our
programme on agriculture called the anchor
programme. Edo has been selected for oil
palm, rubber, cassava, maize, livestock,
poultry and fishery. Government is going to
support all you want to do.”
However, Obaseki noted that the process of
wealth creation required the cooperation of
all residents.
He said: “Alone, I cannot do it; I need all of
you to support the project to make it work,
so that by the time we come here, almost
everybody will be gainfully and skilfully
employed.
“We have done a research in government. I
do not want to be a governor where people
fight to be senior special assistants before
they can buy cars.
“I want to be a governor that will produce
100 millionaires after four years. That is my
goal, so that at the end my tenure, the
people will truly lead because they will be
empowered.
“If you have your PVC, on September 28, you
all should come out and vote for the APC.”
Meanwhile, candidates of the gubernatorial
election set to hold in Edo state on
Wednesday, September 28, have been made
to sign a peace pact to ensure that the
elections go hitch free.
Among those who signed the pact were
Godwin Obaseki, and his counterpart from
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor
Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Vote APGA and rice will become N9ooo- Chief Willie Obiano

– Governor Willie Obiano says Nigerians
should turn their eyes towards the the All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
– Obiano says the party will field a
presidential candidate in the 2019 general
elections
– The Anambra state governor says rice
would sell for N9000 if APGA is given a
chance
The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano,
on Monday, September 19, said if the All
Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is given a
chance, a bag of rice will cost only N9000.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state has
said that the cost of living for Nigerians
would be drastically reduced if APGA is given
a chance, come 2019.
Obiano hinted that APGA has prepared its
house, and would field a presidential
candidate in the 2019 general election.
The governor, who is also the Chairman,
Board of Trustees of the party, said if voted
into power, an APGA national government
would drastically reduce the cost of a living
in Nigeria.
The Punch reports that, Obiano stated this in
Awka, the Anambra state capital, during the
inauguration of ‘Governor Willie Obiano
Support Group’, Awka South Chapter.
Represented by his special adviser on
Political Matters, Mr. Chinedu Obidigwe,
Obiano said APGA would want to prove to
Nigerians that the party had the solution to
the country’s woes.
He said: “Anambra is a case study for good
governance. If APGA will be given the
opportunity to rule Nigeria a bag of rice will
reduce N9,000.
“What Anambra has done in agriculture,
which resulted in the state having its own
brand of rice (Anambra rice) would be
replicated at a bigger scale should APGA win
the presidential election.
“The state has used scarce resources to
resuscitate the state’s economy, leading to
infrastructural development and timely
payment of workers’ salary,” Obiano stated.

BREAKING: Minister of women affairs collapses at IDP camp

– Hajiya Aisha Alhassan reportedly collapsed
at an IDP camp in Adamawa state
– The minister of women affairs is said to
have been diagnosed of low sugar
Emerging reports suggest that the minister
of women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Alhassan,
collapsed at an Internally Displaced
Persons’ (IDPs) camp on Monday, September
19.
Minister of women affairs, Aisha Alhassan
reportedly collapsed at an IDP camp in
Adamawa state.
According to This Day, the minister collapsed
at a camp situated in Fufore Local
Government Area of Adamawa state while
addressing vulnerable IDP women inside a
store in the camp.
Alhassan, who was in crutches when she
arrived the camp, and after addressing the
IDPs, entered the store to discuss with some
of the said vulnerable women sequel to an
allegation by some foreign non-
governmental organisations (NGOs) on
violation of some girls and women at the
IDPs’ camps in the Northeast.
While discussing with the women, she
collapsed, but was quickly assisted to a chair
and given a bottle of Coke to drink, which
revived her.
According to some of her aides, she had
been diagnosed with low sugar, a problem
that creates serious weakness of the body.
But despite her state of health, she managed
to explain to journalists at the camp that her
fact-finding mission to Yobe, Borno and
Adamawa states tend to confirm the foreign
NGOs’ allegation.
The minister had earlier said that she was at
the camp to give a message from President
Muhammadu Buhari to the displaced
persons, who wanted them to cheer up
despite the hardship because everything
was being done to ensure that they go back
to their homes.
She told the IDPs that the president was
touched by their suffering and that was why
he sent her to come and donate relief
materials and felicitate with them.
Alhassan also paid a courtesy visit to the
Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji
Muhammadu Bindow, and told him that her
visit to the IDPs was to investigate
allegations of violation of girls and women
and the compound issues of orphans and
the vulnerable.
She used the occasion to remind the
governor of calls by various women groups
on the need to return the women
development centre, which was given to the
Court of Appeal for its use.
The state commissioner for Information, Mr
Ahmad Sajoh, in his remarks, told the
minister and her staff that the governor
celebrated the last Ed-el-Kabir with the IDPs
at the Malkohi camp.
According to Sajoh, the governor and his
cabinet, including some All Progressives
Congress (APC) stalwarts ate and danced
with the displaced persons.
In his brief remarks, Bindow stressed the
need for peaceful co-existence, adding:
“Without peace, no one would readily do
anything.”
The deputy governor, Mr Martins Babale, in a
vote of thanks, observed that keeping the
IDPs was still a problem because of the state
of the economy.
According to him, the state was still
expecting about 56,000 displaced persons
from Cameroun.
It would bee recalled that there have been
similar reports regarding the poor state of
health of some ministers of the present
dispensation.
Sometime earlier in the year, there were
reports that Nigeria’s minister of labour and
employment, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige,
collapsed at the National Assembly.
The collapse reportedly took place on the
sacred floor of the parliament on Thursday,
February 18. However, a couple of hours
after several controversial publications,
Senator Chris Ngige denied the reports that
he collapsed during National Assembly
budget defence.
Speaking with The Nation correspondent
aboard an aircraft from South Africa, on
February 18, he described the report as
rumour aimed at damaging his strength and personality.

JAMB Will Not Allow Institutions To Reject Candidates Unreasonably – JAMB BOSS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it will not allow institutions to reject candidates arbitrarily or as result of sudden change in admission criteria.

This was made known by the Registrar,
Professor Is-haq O. Oloyede during the extra
ordinary technical committee meeting on
2016 admissions to first choice institutions
at Baze University, Abuja.
According to him, “JAMB will not accept
whatever is done arbitrarily and I hope
those that are here will make adjustment.
They must be able to explain why somebody
with high score was not taken.
I have a particular school where the person
who scored the highest marks was not
taken and the reason was because the
university changed its rules.
You cannot change the rules when the
game is on. You have to wait until 2017 to
publish the new rules; you cannot have a
particular rule and changed to another.”
He further mentioned that the admission
criteria by institutions must be reasonable,
explicit and must have been published in the
2016 admission brochure.
He equally stated that it is wrong for any
institution to admit candidates beyond its
carrying capacity and called on institutions
that were yet to update their requirements
for the 2017 brochure to urgently do so.

Marketers sell petrol above N145/L in 16 states

Amidst controversies over appropriate
pump price for petrol, reports of the
National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has
indicated that petrol marketers in16 states
of the country are selling the product
significantly higher than the N145 maximum
price stipulated by the federal government.
While the marketers have subtly canvassed
for upward review of the ceiling on the
bases of upwards movement in exchange
rate, the key factor in the petrol pricing
template, many stakeholders have argued
that the marketers were being selfish in
pressuring the government for their
financial gains at the expense of the
economy and the citizens.
Also the federal government through both
the presidency and the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, have resisted
the pressure saying that the increase was
not acceptable.
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Mr.
Godwin Emefiele, has also indicated that at
N145 per litre the marketers were already
making huge margins on the exchange rate
of N280/USD1.00, arguing that the further
depreciation of Naira recently only
narrowed the profit margin instead of
wiping it out.
But according to the NBS report, as at last
month Nigerians across the 36 states
bought petrol at average of N147 per litre,
above the fixed price cap of N145 per litre.
Specifically, the reports show that in 16
states the price ranged from N145.90 in Imo
State to N164.30 in Bayelsa State.
In the report, all oil producing states are
running the most expensive fuel price,
except Edo and Delta.
Other states that recorded significant mark-
up on the benchmark price include: Abia,
Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa,
Benue, Borno, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu,
Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara,
Nassarawa, Niger, Rivers and Sokoto, with a
range of N146 and N164.3 per litre.
Meanwhile, within this period, no regulatory
agency has been able to check the
discrepancy.

Assist govs to improve economy, Lalong asks SSGs

Jos—Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State
has tasked secretaries to governments in
the 36 states of the federation to bring their
wealth of experience, contribute their quota
and assist their respective governors to
drive the diverse policies designed by their
governments to take their states out of
economic recession.

According to him, this is the only way the
common man will feel the positive aspect of
the change agenda of the Federal
Government.
Lalong gave the charge yesterday in Jos,
while addressing participants at the 4th
Progressive Governors Forum Policy Design
session for All Progressives Congress, APC,
Secretaries to State Governments, where he
urged them to rise to the call of duty and
carry out the responsibilities of their offices
with utmost sense of commitments.
The governor, who was represented by his
Deputy, Professor Sonni Tyoden, said: “I
admonish you in the words of our President
to think outside the box as abnormal
challenges call for abnormal solutions.
“You are responsible for designing the
framework for these policies and you
continue to remain at the controls of what is
generally called the engine room of
government.”

Recession: Nigerians fed up with APC’s economic policies – Delta PDP Chair

OLEH—CHAIRMAN of Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, in Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Esiso,
has said that Nigerians “are obviously” fed
up with the economic policies of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, insisting that
the PDP was the only party that has the
capacity to put the country back on track.
Speaking in Ozoro at an enlarged meeting of
the PDP in Isoko North Local Government
Area of the state, where a vote of
confidence was passed on the Minority
Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr.
Leo Ogor, Esiso told aggrieved members of
the PDP to stay put in the party, saying,
“Even APC members are hungry and thinking
of how to come to us.
“They came and preached the mantra of
change to us. Nigerians bought it without
asking the kind of change they are selling.
Today, obviously, you can see that the
change is very negative. We are proud to be
in PDP and I am very confident that come
2019, PDP will bring a positive change in the
country.”
Emphasizing the need for party faithful to
respect constituted authorities, he added: “I
am very sure that we have properly
constituted executives in all the wards in
Isoko North. I personally signed the names
of every ward exco. Any other person or
group of persons parading themselves as
exco is not recognised.”
In his remarks, Ogor, lawmaker
representing Isoko federal constituency at
the National Assembly, advised party faithful
to remain focused.

BREAKING: Boko Haram threatens to capture Buhari in new video

One of the factions of the deadly Boko Haram sect has unveiled a new video showing how the terrorists in their thousands observed prayers during the Eid ceremony.
The militant sect under the leadership of Abubakar Shekau showed members in three separate praying grounds in Borno and the Lake Chad area. Meanwhile, the leader of the faction, Shekau was obviously absent in the recording. The recording, narrated in Hausa, showed was posted on YouTube on September 13, Tuesday, and the group said it was using it to send out message that it remained a strong force.
The Boko Haram faction threatened President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that its members are still many and stay resilient despite the Nigerian army operation that killed scores of its foot soldiers and recaptured Nigerian territory under its control. The group said: “This is our eid prayer from us and by the support of our leader Imam Abubakar Al-Shekau. We are extending our greetings to our people and fighters. “Message to the infidels and the leader of the entire infidels (kafir) who is the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, that he should know we are very strong and doing very good. “By the will of Allah under the leadership of our leader (Shekau) will capture Buhari with our hands.” While the Buhari government claimed that it had defeated the militant group after retaking much of its territory, the terrorists still have a massive capacity for inflicting destruction and casualties. Recently, two rival factions in Boko Haram have launched a war for true Islam in Borno state, close to Lake Chad. One faction is loyal to Shekau, the group’s leader since 2009, and the other led by Abu Musab al-Barnawi, who was recently announced as the group’s commander in a publication of the Islamic State militant group.
However, two factions stay shadowy and it’s hard to understand numbers of fighters and which of the faction is keeping the Chibok girls abducted more than two years ago. Shekau after almost one year of silence was unusually active in August, unveiling an audio statement followed by a video appearance several days later.
His comment came after Barnawi’s emergence as a leader of the group. At the same time the Nigerian army claimed that Shekau was fatally wounded in the one of the latest operations. source= NAIJ.COM

N9.4 billion missing in National Assembly - Audit report

An audit report, the latest on the National
Assembly, has shown that the country’s
legislative body failed to explain what
happened to a total expenditure of over
N9.4 billion in 2014, according to a report
by Premium Times.
The report broke the money as including
N9.39 billion which had no documentary
evidence of being spent for anything, and
another N47 million that was supposed to
be returned to government coffers.
Under David Mark as president of the Senate,
the National Assembly could not account for
an amount
However, the audit report said only
N360,000 was returned.
The audit report was said to have been
submitted to the clerk to the National
Assembly in March 2016 as statutorily
provided, but its content was made public
recently by the office of the country’s
auditor-general.

It was learnt that the 2009-2014 report
indicted various government organisations
of failing to remit over N3 trillion into
government’s treasury, apart from being
extravagant in their spending.
Some of those allegedly indicted include the
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC), the ministry of Interior, the
presidency, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
and foreign missions.
The report said between January and
December, 2014, under David Mark as
president of the Senate and chairman of the
National Assembly, and Salisu Maikasuwa as
the clerk, a department of the National
Assembly Commission transferred
N9,392,995,515.00 from the general
services account to other accounts in
different banks and that the purpose
reportedly given for the transfers included
Senate general services, appropriation,
constitutional review, House of
Representatives services, UNDP projects and
research office services.
The report said no expenditure returns or
documentary evidence were rendered to
account for how these sums were
expended. The report added: “It was further observed
that the total Personnel Vote release for the
year 2014 was N1,856,510,517.00 (One
billion, eight hundred and fifty-six million,
five hundred and ten thousand, five
hundred and seventeen naira), and the
Actual Expenditure for the same period was
N1,808,661,460.18 (One billion, eight
hundred and eight million, six hundred and
sixty-one thousand, four hundred and sixty
naira, eighteen kobo), resulting in a balance
of N47,849,057.00 (Forty-seven million,
eight hundred and forty-nine thousand,
fifty-seven naira).

Read President Buhari’s Eid-El-Kabir Message To Nigerians

Fellow Compatriots, as you celebrate the Eid-
El-Kabir, I salute your steadfastness in spite
of the difficult economic times the country is
going through.
The lessons of the Eid are piety and sacrifice
and, my dear brothers and sisters, you have
exhibited these in equal measure.
The present recession is as a result of
cumulative effects of worldwide economic
downturn and failure in the past to plan and
save for difficult times. It is impossible to
separate the present from the past to
appreciate the extent to which mistakes of
the past are affecting everyday life today..
I assure you that this administration is
working round the clock to remove the
hardships the country is going through. Rail
and road constructions, projects in the
housing sector, support for farmers and for
small and medium scale industries, youth
and women’s empowerment programmes,
support for revival of industries are all
designed to reinvigorate the economy and
enhance living standards of ordinary people.
We are getting security right. We are
stopping corruption in its tracks and we will
get the economy right by the Grace of God.
I enjoin Muslims to live by the dictates of
Islam, to keep good relationships with their
Christian brothers and sisters and as
patriots to maintain the spirit of the
Nigerian nation.
I wish everyone happy holidays.
